owner_cut_enabled
Derived flag — whether the subnet owner takes any share of alpha emission (true iff the owner emission slot is non-zero).
Read-only since the per-subnet emission weight
vector replaced the global owner cut. The
flag is true exactly when the subnet's
owner_emission slot is greater than
zero. Owners care because the cut is their revenue; stakers and miners care
because whatever the owner does not take is redistributed to them.
How it works
Every block, the chain accrues alpha_out × owner_emission to a pending
owner bucket; at the next epoch that alpha is staked directly to the subnet
owner's hotkey and coldkey, while the validator and miner slots go through
Yuma Consensus (see the per-tempo
split). With the owner slot at
zero no deduction happens: the full alpha_out flows to participants and the
owner receives nothing — the forgone cut is not stashed or paid
retroactively. Blocks are settled as they accrue, so changing the slot
mid-tempo affects only the blocks after the change.
Subnets that never set a vector keep the historical 18% default
(11796/65535). Lease-created subnets may not drop the owner slot below
that default, so on those subnets this flag cannot become false.
alpha_out accrued over one tempo, divided at the epoch. Shown at the default emission weight vector: the owner slot is 18% when owner_cut_enabled (owner slot > 0) and the remainder splits 50/50 between miners and validators + stakers; owners can move all three slots within chain bounds (root proportion omitted for clarity). Focused on owner_cut_enabled: flip the highlighted toggle off (owner slot = 0) and the owner segment vanishes — the full alpha_out flows to miners and validators, and the forgone cut is never stashed or paid retroactively.

Reading and setting
btcli sudo get --netuid 12 --name owner_cut_enabled
btcli subnets emission set-value --netuid 12 --slot owner --value 0 # disable
btcli subnets emission set-value --netuid 12 --slot owner --value 0.18 # restoreThe former sudo_set_owner_cut_enabled and sudo_set_subnet_owner_cut
calls are deprecated and always fail with Deprecated; set the owner slot
through set-subnet-emission-weights
instead (subnet owner, once per week per subnet, or root). Not permitted on
the root subnet.
